The Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa, is located in the heart of Wellington, right on the waterfront. This landmark building, rich in symbolism and engineering feats – Te Papa is considered one of the safest buildings to be in during an earthquake! – was opened in 1998 and has been home to the EMPA New Zealand conference for the past four years. 

Easily accessible by foot, bus, ferry or e-scooter, Te Papa offers amazing vistas both inside and out. The hospitality of the staff and the comfort of their facilities makes this an ideal conference venue.

Rooms will be scarce in Wellington during October due to multiple public events. We have a handful of rooms available as part of a block reservation at the Copthorne oriental bay for EMPA delegates, which you can book alongside your registration.
